Celestial Church bids a heartfelt farewell to AMSE Olaitan Aderemi Balogun

There are moments when words seem too small to express the pain of losing a loved one. For the Celestial Church of Christ, particularly the USA National Diocese, the passing of Assistant Most Superior Evangelist Olaitan Aderemi Balogun is one such moment.

The 66-year-old Head of the USA National Diocese passed away in Nigeria on 2 September 2026, after a prolonged illness, leaving behind a grieving church, a bereaved family and countless people whose lives were touched by his warmth, faith and service.

He was more than a church leader. He was a worthy soldier of Christ—a man who devoted himself to the work of God and sought, through his life and service, to leave the world better than he met it. His exemplary Christian life, dedication and commitment to the Celestial Church of Christ earned him the respect and affection of those around him.

Now, after a life of service, the man who spent his years serving the Lord is being called home. His remains will be taken back to the United States, where family, friends, church members and associates will gather in Chicago to celebrate his life, honour his legacy and bid him a tearful but hopeful farewell.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 28 — SERVICE OF SONGS IN NIGERIA

A Service of Songs will be held in Nigeria in honour of the departed church leader. Family members, church leaders, friends and loved ones will gather to remember a life that touched many and to give thanks for the years they shared with him.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29 — SERVICE OF SONGS IN CHICAGO

It will be an evening of remembrance, prayers and thanksgiving as the Celestial family and the wider Christian community come together to honour his memory.

As the Celestial Church prepares to say its final earthly farewell, there will undoubtedly be tears. But beyond the sorrow is gratitude—for a life lived, a faith kept and a Christian testimony left behind.

AMSE Olaitan Aderemi Balogun has finished his earthly assignment. The soldier has laid down his armour; the servant has completed his course.

And in the words of Scripture:

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7

May the memory of his service remain a blessing to the Celestial Church of Christ, and may his soul rest peacefully in the bosom of the Lord. Amen.
