POLICE GIVE REASONS FOR SEALING C.C.C. PARISH PREMISES OVER ALLEGED KILLING OF 28 YEARS OLD LASU GRADUATE

The Lagos State Police Command has given reasons why it sealed the premises of the Celestial Church of Christ, Ileri Oluwa Parish, LASU 2, over the alleged killing of Ogunbode Quadri Adedamola, a 28-year-old Lagos State University (LASU) graduate.

Speaking on the development, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, while briefing journalists at the Command’s headquarters on Monday, said that the church where some people alleged that the young man was killed and buried had been sealed to prevent it from being attacked and burned.

Hear him, “The church was sealed following intelligence reports that some people planned to burn it down out of vengeance and we do not want that to happen. It is still a suspected crime scene. We still need to go over it. We may need to revisit that scene multiple times for us to gather evidential value.”

Continuing, he said, “The church has been sealed for now to prevent it from being burned. And we assure the public that updates will be given about the investigation and the progress we have made as soon as we get new updates.”

The Command’s Spokesperson further confirmed that three suspects are in Police custody and the case is ongoing at the State Criminal Investigation Department. According to him, efforts are also underway to apprehend five other suspects. Two of the five suspects are outside the country in Benin Republic.

Recall that Hundeyin, in a statement on Friday, stated that the matter was no longer a case of missing person but suspected murder. Investigation has therefore been intensified to locate the body of the deceased and uncover the circumstances surrounding his death.

Hundeyin also made it clear that the “State Commisioner of Police, CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, has assured the public that the Command is fully committed to resolving the matter and bringing the perpetrators to justice.”

Finally, the Police Commisioner called for restraint from actions that could potentially hinder or interfere with the ongoing investigation.”

As directed by His Eminence, Reverend E.M.F Oshoffa, the appropriate church organs are also looking into the matter discreetly and would give urgent updates as the situation demands.
