P.I.C. MEMBER, SUPERIOR EVANGELIST SEGUN DACOSTA, STANDS WITH E.M.F … Rejects Appointment into Metro Parish’s Council of Elders!

A member of the Pastor in Council, C.C.C. W/w, Superior Evangelist Segun Dacosta Mpic, has rejected his appointment into the Council of Elders of the Celestial Church of Christ, Metropolitan Parish, Archdiocese, Washington DC, USA.

In a letter dated 12th October 2025, Dacosta stated his position in very strong and clear terms. His words:

“I wish to express my sincere appreciation to the church leadership for considering me worthy of appointment to serve as a member of the Council of Elders appointed by the Shepherd in Charge, as contained in your announcement today.

The Letter of Refusal

After prayerful consideration and reflection, I humbly wish to decline the appointment at this time.

I recall vividly that His Eminence, Reverend E.M.F Oshoffa, did proscribe Metro Archdiocese’s Council of Elders, and he is yet to lift the ban till date.

I am not unmindful of Metro’s decision to be independent, but my affirmation of loyalty and subordination to Reverend E.M.F Oshoffa’s authority is resolute. I commend 1 Corinthians 14:40.

I remain deeply grateful for the confidence the church has reposed in me, and I continue to pledge my prayers, support and commitment to the growth of the church.”

The letter (published above) was written and despatched to the Church Secretary after the embattled Shepherd, VSE Tunde Odubanjo, announced the appointment.
