C.A.N GOLDEN JUBILEE: Saint S.B.J Oshoffa to Receive Posthumous ‘Father of Faith’ Award as E.M.F Gets Jubilee Honour

ABUJA/ABEOKUTA — The Christian Association of Nigeria (C.A.N) is set to honour the enduring legacy of the founder of the Celestial Church of Christ, Saint Samuel Bilewu Oshoffa, with its prestigious Father of Faith Award, as the umbrella Christian body marks its 50th anniversary.

The posthumous award will be presented during C.A.N’s golden jubilee celebrations on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at the Ecumenical Centre, Abuja.

The recognition of Saint S.B.J Oshoffa is expected to be a major highlight of the anniversary programme, coming decades after the Celestial Church of Christ founder established a Christian movement that has grown from its Nigerian roots into an international religious community.

In a related development, the Ogun State Chapter of CAN will honour the present Pastor and Spiritual Head of the Celestial Church of Christ Worldwide, His Eminence, Reverend E.M.F. Oshoffa, with a Jubilee Award as the state chapter celebrates its own golden jubilee.

The Ogun State ceremony is scheduled for Friday, October 2, 2026, at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The two awards place the Celestial Church of Christ and its leadership prominently among the Christian personalities and institutions being recognised during C.A.N’s 50th-anniversary celebrations.

Speaking on the significance of the honours, a senior official of the association said the recognition of Saint Samuel Bilewu Joseph Oshoffa was a tribute to his contribution to the development and spread of Christianity.

“This award is a celebration of Christian leadership, service and the continuing contribution of the Celestial Church of Christ to the Christian community in Ogun State and beyond.”

For the Celestial Church of Christ, the two ceremonies are expected to be moments of considerable significance, bringing the legacy of its founder and the leadership of his successor into the wider national celebration of five decades of C.A.N.

The events will also provide an opportunity for Christian leaders, clergy, government dignitaries, members of the Celestial Church of Christ and other invited guests to reflect on the history of Christianity in Nigeria and the contributions of individuals who have played significant roles in its development.

With the Abuja ceremony on October 18 and the Ogun State celebration on October 2, the two occasions are expected to draw prominent Christian leaders and dignitaries and further underscore the place of the Celestial Church of Christ in Nigeria’s Christian history.
